Progressive exercise, coached in the clinic, aimed at movement you can use in everyday life — stairs, walking, lifting, training.
Suitable alongside treatment for a current problem, or on its own if the issue is stiffness, weakness or reduced activity.
This programme focuses on the rehabilitation work: practising movement, building strength and gradually increasing what you can manage. If you are still trying to understand unexplained stiffness or weakness, start with the related assessment page. Your current ability and the tasks you want back guide the starting level.
Walking further, using stairs with more control or returning to a familiar activity can be more useful goals than lifting a particular weight. Discuss what feels manageable and what happens after activity, as well as during it. Progression follows your response and any medical restrictions.
Tell the physiotherapist about recent illness, surgery, a long break from activity or symptoms you have not had assessed. Bring relevant medical guidance. A programme should fit your starting point; it does not require you to arrive at a particular fitness level.
